New Google + Hangouts is Now Available

The new Google+ Hangouts is now available to UCSC. The new Hangouts unifies chats, audio calls, and video meetings across all of your devices. Whether you’re in Gmail, on the desktop, Android phones, tablets, iPhone, iPad or using a Chrome extension, you won't miss a thing because all your Hangouts are synchronized. You can start a Hangout on your phone, and pick it up in Gmail right where you left off!

If you currently use Hangouts for video calling in Gmail or Calendar, you may continue to do so without any changes. Add a Hangout to your Google Calendar event.

If you'd like to try the new Hangouts experience in Gmail Chat, click on the tiny down-arrow where your Chat options are located next to your photo or account icon (above the "search people" chat field). A pull down menu appears and then click on the first option, "Try the new Hangouts". If you don't like the new Chat/Hangouts experience, you can switch back by clicking on "Revert to old Chat."

If you use Google+, you may begin using the new Hangouts right away by clicking on the green Hangout icon located in the upper right corner of your Google+ home page. You will see a Welcome to Google+ Hangouts message and a notice that your Hangout history will automatically be saved in Gmail. Learn more

The new Hangouts is designed to help bring all of your real-life conversations online, across any device or platform. Just as before, you can invite up to 15 colleagues to a video call – for free! Learn more about Google+ Hangouts
