UCSC Gmail Tips

Check out these useful tips for Gmail!

TIP 1: Add a Read Receipt to your emails
Be proactive and turn on your read receipts in Gmail to make sure your emails are getting seen.

Here’s how to request a read receipt:
  1. 1. Compose (or Reply to) a message in Gmail
  2. 2. In the bottom right-hand side you'll see three dots indicating 'more options'
  3. 3. Click the three dots 'more options' icon
  1. 4. Click Request read receipt from the options
  2. 5. Send your message as normal
Receipt requests will be sent to every recipient in the To: and Cc: fields. It does not send a request to recipients in the Bcc: field.
Once the message has been read you’ll receive an email telling you the date and time that your message was seen by the recipient.

TIP 2: Use the snooze button in Gmail
If you don't have time to read or respond to an email, press the snooze button and choose a time or date that suits you to remember to respond.
Here’s how to use the snooze button:
  1. 1. Hover over the email you want to snooze
  2. 2. Click the clock icon labelled snooze to the right hand size of your inbox
  3. 3. Choose a time and date that suits you from the drop down
If you need to snooze multiple emails to the same time and date, just tick the ones you want to snooze in the left hand panel and click the clock icon at the top of your Gmail and repeat the same action.
