New Calendar Feature - Adding Events Automatically

Google Calendar now adds events from Gmail, like reservations for hotels, flights, and restaurants, to your calendar automatically.

When you get an email about an event like a flight, concert, or restaurant reservation, it's added to your calendar automatically – no need to copy over the details to your calendar.

These automatically added events are only visible to calendar owners. Sharing settings can be changed in Google Calendar settings or in individual events.

This new feature can be turned off!

If you don't want events from Gmail on your calendar, you can delete a single event from your calendar or change your settings so that events aren't added automatically. Here's how to turn off this feature:

Mobile directions

  1. Open the Calendar app .
  2. Go to the main menu in the top left .
  3. Choose  Settings at the bottom.
  4. Select Events from Gmail.
  5. Switch off Add events from Gmail.

Computer directions

  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. Click the settings gear in the top right settings gear button.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Find the Events from Gmail section (stay in the "General" tab).
  5. Uncheck Add automatically.
  6. Click Save.
