You might have noticed a pop-up message from Google stating, “Google Drive for Mac/PC is going away soon” after you sign in to your UCSC Google account.
Don’t be alarmed - the Google Drive cloud based tool that includes Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Team Drive, is NOT going away. It’s a confusing pop-up message!
What is going away, is the Google Drive Backup and Sync tool, which is used by some people to back up files from their computer to their Google Drive (My Drive). This backup tool is being replaced with Google’s new service called Drive File Stream, which is already available to all UCSC Google accounts.
