Team Drives is Being Renamed to Shared Drives

The "Team Drives" feature of Google Drive will be renamed to "shared drives." 

A new look and feel for Gmail on mobile

An upcoming update is bringing a new look to Gmail on mobile. With the new design, users can conveniently view attachments instantly without having to scroll through an entire conversation. It will also be easier to switch between different work and personal accounts. 

Create a Google Calendar Event From Gmail

Since Gmail and Google Calendar are closely integrated applications, it is possible to easily create a calendar event based on information from an email while on the Gmail website or mobile app. 

New Team Drives Role and Names

Google has updated Team Drives with a new membership role and has renamed the membership names.

Google autocompletes names as you type! Coming Oct. 10, 2018

Google Autocomplete will be enabled for the UCSC domain on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Google Tasks added to UCSC Google Apps

Google Tasks has been added as a new core service to the UCSC Google Apps, which already includes Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Groups, Sites, Classrooms, Hangouts and Chat.

New Google Calendar Coming Feb. 28!

Effective February 28, Google is permanently replacing their current Calendar application with a brand new design. Starting the 28th, there won't be an option for you to "opt out" of using the new design.

New Google Apps Script Discussion Group

A new UCSC Google Group, gscript@ucsc.edu, has been created for discussion of Google Apps Script. 

New Gmail Inbox

On August 15, Google released Inbox for Google Apps for Education. This new email application provides enhanced features for managing your email Inbox and mobile use. The UCSC Google Service team evaluated the service and enable it for our campus on August 19.

Set Expiration Dates for Access to Google Drive Documents

You now have the ability to set an “expiration date” for specific user access to files in Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
